El ejercicio de nuestras mascotas.

Así como la obesidad y el sedentarismo han sido consideradas la enfermedad del siglo XXI en personas, en paralelo se ha desarrollado este mismo problema en sus animales de compañía… las mascotas son el reflejo de la sociedad… en efecto el 25% de ellas tiene sobrepeso y el 12,5% son obesos.  La errónea visión de criadores colombianos y a nivel mundial de ver caballos gordos como signo de salud ha generado falta de estado físico, problemas circulatorios cardíacos, metabólicos como resistencia a insulina, baja fertilidad, hasta lipomas, una forma de neoplasia.

Por ello es necesario el ejercicio en nuestros animales. Hay un gasto de energía y una interacción con otros animales y personas, de preferencia en un lugar diferente al sitio de alojamiento que conllevan a un bienestar físico y comportamental. Se previenen cambios de comportamiento por aburrimiento como depresión, ansiedad, reacciones apáticas o agresivas, aprendizaje difícil y enfermedades como artritis, diabetes, alteraciones cardíacas y respiratorias, falta de rendimiento físico.  Se ven problemas a nivel general pues el ejercicio requiere contar con la función integrada de todos los diferentes sistemas orgánicos como el nervioso, cardíaco, digestivo, respiratorio, musculoesquelético, endocrino, renal, que deben ser preparados con la preparación física llamado entrenamiento.

La medicina Antizootóxica integral busca un ejercicio sano, sin lesiones posteriores y rendimiento libre de dopaje. Nos permite gracias a la regulación del funcionamiento orgánico, aumento de defensas corporales,  y aporte de energía natural mitocondrial, eliminar radicales libres responsables del estrés oxidativo y procesos de envejecimiento, toxinas por el sudor, tener articulaciones y músculos fuertes y bien formados, una óptima producción de glucógeno y reconversión de ácido láctico en fuente de energía, metabolismo optimo  y una buena adaptación al medio generando salud integral, física y comportamental.

Debe acompañarse de una nutrición equilibrada según la especie, raza y actividad, rica en antioxidantes.  De preferencia, el lugar para la actividad física son espacios agradables abiertos, verdes, con aire fresco y lo menos contaminado posible. Permiten aporte de oxígeno, limpieza de las vías respiratorias por espiración, cambio del ambiente de encierro, y baños de sol necesarios para salud de la piel y el crecimiento.

El tiempo de paseo y ejercicio es muy importante en animales y humanos. Se tiene la mala costumbre de sacar a los animales, a los perros por periodos muy cortos a hacer sus necesidades. Se necesita mínimo de 40 minutos, 2 veces al día, para que haya sensación de bienestar y tranquilidad, pues hay secreción de Serotonina, hormona que facilita la digestión (controla las gastritis y producción de ulceras), regula la agresividad, los estados de ánimos positivos y negativos (como el exceso de ladridos), regula los ciclos de sueño (Los animales y compañeros humanos tendrán sueños reparadores), y controla la temperatura corporal. Es un ejercicio no solo físico, sino mental con juegos, retos y fomento de la obediencia.

Como vemos el ejercicio es necesario diariamente para la salud física y comportamental del dúo Hombre-animal, y puede dirigirse con Medicina Antizootóxica, asociada a una óptima nutrición, un manejo sano sin humanización (El animal es un animal y debe tratarse según su especie por salud) , en espacios abiertos naturales y  un hogar enriquecido ambientalmente con juguetes , y muebles para cada especie (como gateras de 3 espacios en felinos).
